Hi there, I’m Lena and welcome to Jolly’s Designs!

On these pages I will share my love and passion for everything creative with you. I have been creating since I was little, with food, pens, brushes, color, clay, photography and sewing. I usually bring my camera everywhere I go, which has given me great pleasure, not only by producing lovely memories, but it has also given me a business idea to start my own online boutique. I have had my own business for the past 10 years, so starting my own online boutique just seems like a step in the right direction.

At one point I was forced to start my life all over again, or as some may think, I was given a second chance in life. I really had to be creative trying to find my own way and purpose in life, it still is an ongoing process, but at least I’m moving in the right direction.

So, I gave up my life, my business and everything else in Sweden. Packed 4 suitcases with my most treasured things and moved to Los Angeles. At the same time as I was scared to death of losing ground, I felt such a relief getting rid of all my old stuff. I had so much heavy junk in my luggage of life that was weighing me down. But somewhere in the process, I felt like someone opened all the windows and let the air in, it became so much easier to breathe, to live.

Well, nothing comes without challenges… Neither did this. I still have my children in Sweden, where they go to school and live with their father. And yes, it’s very hard not to see them on a daily basis more than via Skype. Don’t ask me how I do it, ’cause I don’t know!

I have been sewing since I was about 5 years old on my mom’s sewing machine, and was taught crochet by my aunt around that same time. My aunt used to create lovely lacy bedspreads and table cloths with her yarn, some natural and others very colorful. I used to love to watch her do her magic. She was such an inspiration to me! Ever since I was a little girl I have looked at things and told my self that “I can make that”, or maybe tweak it a little bit to make it more my own. Now, I’m not always able to make the things I envision, but I learn as I go and sometimes the things turn out even better than I thought.

I have always loved Scandinavian and Asian design, well Scandinavian probably because I’m from there, and Asian designs hypnotize me with their patterns and colors. I love both styles! One is cool and the other is more wild, perfect balance!

It has always been very important to me that the quality of materials and my work is the best it possibly can be. I personally pick out all my fabrics and leathers and I make sure each item I make gets the time and love it deserves. It has taken me a lifetime of sewing to perfect my craft to what it is today, every item is handcrafted from scratch and I pay as much attention to style, durability and detail as I do when I pick out the materials. My items are casual, some fun, but mostly they are made to last for your everyday needs.

Anyway, this is my way of letting my creativity flow and reach out to you, and I hope I can inspire you in some way. Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what your thoughts are!
